IN-DEPTH INFO ABOUT THE CURRICULUMS
ICSE
A comprehensive, well-structured syllabus designed by the Council for the Indian School
Certificate Examinations, the ICSE curriculum aims to provide practical knowledge and build
analytical skills in students. The curriculum’s ethos is: minimum monitoring, freedom to
experiment with ideas, and students evolving their own niche. It focuses on the child’s overall
growth by giving equal importance to all subjects. With an emphasis on the detailed study of
each subject with an edge over English, this curriculum also offers the flexibility of selecting
subjects that the students like and want to study.
ISC
The ISC curriculum is designed to improve oral and writing skills, along with in-depth learning of
various concepts, which focuses on the overall development of students. A critical two-year
“stream-based”, subject-specific, competency-based teaching and learning and assessment
programme which is offered by the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examination. The
ISC curriculum places a lot of importance on English literature & language along with elective
subjects. It is very systematic; disciplined & the difficulty level of the subjects is equally
distributed in exams. At JGS, the ISC curriculum is offered to students of classes XI & XII with
English as the medium of instruction in the following streams,

IBDP
Administered by the International Baccalaureate organization this curriculum is for grades 11
and 12 & is logical, consistent, and holistic in nature. It’s a rigorous academic course within a
broad and balanced curriculum in the local and global contexts, that prepares students, aged 16
to 19, for success at university and life beyond. It has been designed to acknowledge various
intellectual, social, emotional and physical well-being of every student. It helps students explore
the nature of knowledge through the programme’s unique theory & in-depth research in
academic disciplines & enhances students’ personal and interpersonal development. In JGS, the
IBDP curriculum was introduced in 2008 & is offered to students of classes XI & XII in branches.
At JGS, the IB curriculum is divided into two parts:
- Diploma Core Subjects
- Six subject groups
The IB Diploma core features are:
- Theory of Knowledge which is a holistic approach to thinking which teaches students how to think and develop skills that are universal and can be applied to all six subjects and beyond.
- Extended Essay It’s an exciting academic challenge involving independent research on a topic of the student’s choice in consultation with a subject expert supervisor.
- Creativity, Activity, and Service (CAS) Students choose their own unique programme of creative, active and service through which they make a positive impact on the school and local community & acquire lifelong learning.
Students opt for any one of the following subject programmes
- Three subjects at Higher Level (HL)
- Three subjects at Standard Level (SL)
- Plus Theory of Knowledge +EE+ CAS.

IB PYP
The IB PYP is an international curriculum framework, designed for children from classes nursery
to grade 2. This programme is based on the belief that each child has their own personality,
learning style and combination of intelligence types. Within a structured framework,
opportunities are given for students to explore their own interests and questions. PYP students
are well prepared for the next stage of education, including IBDP. The IB PYP focuses on
students’ social, physical, emotional, and cultural needs as part of a strong academic ethos.
In JGS, the IB PYP studies are based on six subject areas:
Language, Social studies, Mathematics,Arts, Science, and Personal/ Social/Physical Education.
At JGS, in the PYP, the whole school community, especially parents – are viewed as valued
partners in learning, actively contributing to a well-rounded educational experience.
